As summer approaches, many of us are eagerly looking forward to basking in the warm sunshine. While soaking up some rays may provide a temporary mood boost, it's important to remember that exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays poses significant risks to our skin. Understanding the Dangers:
UV radiation, emitted by the sun, falls into three categories: UVA, UVB, and UVC. Although the ozone layer absorbs most of the harmful UVC rays, UVA and UVB rays still manage to reach the Earth's surface, affecting our skin in different ways.

UVA Rays:

Even during cloudy days or in winter, UV rays can still cause damage. Applying sunscreen should be a part of your daily skincare routine, just like brushing your teeth.

Choosing the Right Sunscreen:
When selecting a sunscreen, opt for broad-spectrum protection, which shields against both UVA and UVB rays. Look for a minimum SPF of 30, and consider your skin type when choosing between creams, lotions, gels, or sprays. Remember to check the expiration date and store your sunscreen properly to maintain its effectiveness.

Additional Sun Protection Measures:
While sunscreen is essential, it should be complemented with other protective measures. Seek shade during the peak hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the sun's rays are strongest. Wear protective clothing, such as wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and long-sleeved shirts, and don't forget to protect your lips with a lip balm containing SPF.
