How to look after Winter Skin

To look after winter skin, consider the following tips:

Moisturise
Moisturise your skin daily with an appropriate moisturiser for your skin to keep it hydrated. Apply it immediately after showering or bathing while your skin is still damp to help lock in moisture.

Use a humidifier
Heating systems can dry out the air in your home, causing your skin to become dry and flaky. Using a humidifier can help to add moisture back into the air and keep your skin hydrated.

Avoid hot showers
While a hot shower may feel good on a cold day, hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling dry and tight. Instead, take lukewarm showers and limit
your time in the water to help keep your skin hydrated.

Exfoliate
Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells that can build up on the surface of your skin, leaving it feeling rough and dull. Not sure what to use, ask for our help in salon!

Protect your skin from the elements
When you go outside, make sure to protect your skin from the wind and cold by covering up with a scarf, hat, and gloves. Wear a face cream or balm that contains SPF (you should be doing this daily all year) to protect your skin from the sun and wind.

Drink plenty of water
Staying hydrated from the inside out is essential for maintaining healthy skin, especially during the winter months when the air is dry. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can dehydrate your skin.

Pay attention to your diet
Eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats can help to keep your skin healthy and hydrated from the inside out.

By following these tips, you can help to keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and protected during the winter months, so it looks its best all year round.
