Healthy Skin Isn't Just About What You Put On It

When we think about improving our skin, it's very easy to focus on products.

A new serum. A stronger active. Another cream that promises to fix whatever we're struggling with.

And while good skincare absolutely has its place, healthy skin isn't always about adding more.

One of the things I've become increasingly passionate about through my training is looking at the bigger picture.

Understanding what your skin actually needs

No two people's skin is exactly the same.

Two clients may both tell me their skin feels dry, for example, but that doesn't necessarily mean they need exactly the same products or treatments.

That's why I don't believe in simply following trends or choosing a treatment because you've seen somebody else having it.

I want to understand your skin first.

What are you currently using at home?

How does your skin feel?

What concerns are bothering you?

What are we actually trying to achieve?

Sometimes the answer is an advanced treatment.

Sometimes it's simplifying your home routine and supporting the skin before we do anything more.

Knowing when not to do something can be just as important as knowing when to treat.

Skin health takes consistency

We all love seeing a beautiful before and after, but healthy skin isn't usually created by one treatment or one miracle product.

It's the little things we do consistently that matter.

Cleansing properly.

Wearing SPF.

Using products appropriate for your skin.

Supporting your skin barrier.

And, when appropriate, having professional treatments that are chosen for what your skin actually needs.

It's not about having the most complicated routine.

It's about having the right routine for you.

Where advanced treatments fit in

As I've continued my training, I've been introducing more advanced skin treatments into the clinic, including DÉCAAR treatments and Skin Needling.

Different treatments work in different ways, which gives me more options when we're working towards a particular skin goal.

But I don't want my clients to feel that they need to understand every treatment on my menu before they book.

That's my job.

I'd much rather you come to me and say:

"This is what's bothering me about my skin."

Then we can work out the most appropriate way forward together.

And what about facial massage?

This is where the two sides of my work come together.

I'm incredibly passionate about advanced skin, but I'm equally passionate about facial massage, facial remodelling and helping clients who carry tension through their face and jaw.

I don't see one replacing the other.

Your skin may need support while you're also carrying tension through your jaw, face, neck or scalp.

Or you may come to me purely because your skin is your priority.

That's why I love having both advanced hands-on techniques and advanced skin treatments available to me.

It allows me to look at you as an individual, rather than trying to fit everyone into the same facial.

A more considered approach to your skin

Over the coming months, you'll probably notice me talking more about skin health and skin regeneration alongside my facial massage work.

It's not a change in direction.

It's simply a better reflection of the therapist I've become and the way I want to work going forward.

Less chasing trends.

Less doing things to the skin simply because we can.

More understanding.

More considered treatment choices.

And treatments that are genuinely appropriate for the person in front of me.

Because healthy skin isn't about perfection.

It's about understanding your skin and giving it the right support.

With love and calm,

Sarah 🤍
