Sometimes Our Bodies Tell Us It's Time to Slow Down

As someone who spends every day helping others feel calmer and more relaxed, I never expected this month to teach me one of the biggest lessons about looking after myself.

If you've ever felt like you have to keep going, even when you're tired, you're definitely not alone.

Over the past few weeks, I've been incredibly busy. Alongside looking after my wonderful clients, I've been completing two advanced training courses, starting my Level 4 qualification, learning new facial massage techniques, studying anatomy and skincare, and trying to find a new home.

I absolutely love learning. Investing in my knowledge means I can continue giving my clients the very best care.

But somewhere along the way, I forgot something.

I forgot to look after myself.

My body gave me a very clear reminder that it was time to slow down. It gave me the opportunity to pause and reflect on something I often encourage my own clients to do.

So many of the women I see spend their days looking after everyone else.

They tell me they'll make time for themselves next week.

They keep pushing through the tiredness, the jaw tension, the headaches or the tight shoulders because life feels too busy to stop.

The truth is, I'm no different.

This month reminded me that self-care isn't something we earn once everything else is done. It's something we need to make time for before we reach the point where our bodies ask us to stop.

One of the promises I've made to myself is to book regular massage treatments. Not because I suddenly have more spare time, but because I know I'll be a better therapist, a better business owner and a happier person when I look after my own wellbeing too.

This experience has also reminded me why I'm so passionate about the treatments I offer.

Whether someone visits me because they're carrying jaw tension, struggling with stress, or simply need an hour to switch off, my hope is always the same.

That they leave feeling lighter, calmer and truly cared for.

So if your body has been whispering that it needs a rest, don't wait until it's shouting.

Give yourself permission to slow down.

Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is pause.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed or your body has been asking you to slow down, I'd love to welcome you into my treatment room. Whether it's therapeutic massage, facial massage or simply an hour to switch off, my aim is always the same—to help you leave feeling calmer than when you arrived.

With love and calm,

Sarah 🤍
