Summer Skin Doesn't Need More Products

Summer is often the time of year when we start adding more to our skincare routine.

A different cleanser for holidays. Extra serums. More treatments. More exfoliation.

But in my experience, summer skin often benefits from a much simpler approach.

When temperatures rise, our skin is already dealing with more. Heat, sweat, SPF, travel, air conditioning and changes to our daily routine can all affect how our skin feels.

Instead of constantly adding more products, I encourage clients to focus on the basics.

A thorough cleanse.

Daily SPF.

Hydration.

Supporting the skin barrier.

One of the most important steps during the summer months is making sure you're cleansing properly at the end of the day. SPF, make-up, sweat and environmental build-up can sit on the skin, leaving it feeling congested, dull or out of balance.

This doesn't mean scrubbing the skin or reaching for stronger exfoliants.

In fact, over-exfoliating can often leave the skin feeling irritated, sensitive and dehydrated.

For most people, a gentle exfoliation once or twice a week is more than enough during summer. The focus should be on keeping the skin healthy, comfortable and supported rather than trying to force results.

I've always believed that healthy skin comes from consistency, not complexity.

Simple habits repeated regularly often create the biggest changes.

So if your skin is feeling a little overwhelmed this summer, take a step back before adding another product.

Focus on the foundations.

Cleanse well.

Wear your SPF.

Keep your skin hydrated.

And remember that sometimes less really is more.

With love and calm,

Sarah 🤍
